Whitbread Sales Incentive & Recognition scheme powered by PeopleValue wins major awards at 2010 Employee Benefits Awards

Oxford, UK – June 29th 2010 - The Whitbread "Going for Gold" (G4G) sales incentive & recognition scheme has won two awards at the 2010 Employee Benefits Awards. Whitbread won the most effective motivation or incentive strategy award and the Communications strategy of the year for employers with more than 5,000 employees. Whitbread won the awards against very stiff competition from schemes presented by Aviva, KPMG , Ladbrokes, BT and Virgin Media.

Whitbread demonstrated that the Going for Gold Incentive Scheme, which was developed in conjunction with PeopleValue, achieved a significant uplift in sales through successfully motivating and inspiring its front line customer facing staff. The communication campaign introduced to support the Going for Gold Incentive included face to face presentations, online league tables to encourage healthy competition between sites, regular branded email updates, a monthly newsletter, recognition postcards for team members, branded certificates for winning sites. Introduced in May 2009, Going for Gold is part of a cultural change programme designed to evolve the sales culture in Whitbread Hotels and Restaurants.
